I went to the Office again

Hey Reader!

I never thought my definition of "fun" would change like this.

For the past three days, my brain has been on fire - thinking, planning, strategizing - and strangely, I haven't felt tired at all. It's made me rethink what actually energizes me.

When Distance Becomes a Barrier

My team at TownScholar has grown to over 10 people now, all working remotely. We've never had an office because, honestly, we didn't need one.

But as the team grows, something shifts. It's not just about paying salaries anymore - it's about inspiring people, ensuring their growth, and maintaining that human connection that screens sometimes filter out.

The Power of Physical Presence

So last week, I invited a few key team members to Chennai. We booked a co-working space and something incredible happened.

In just a few days, we:

  • Drafted a solid plan for the next three months

  • Set clear revenue goals

  • Broke down complex problems into manageable pieces

  • Tackled issues that had been stagnating for weeks

The most surprising part? Despite constant mental activity, I never felt drained. I'd go home, sleep, wake up, and be ready for more.

The Alignment Effect

There's something powerful that happens when vision aligns and everyone works toward one common goal. The energy multiplies instead of divides.

I realized that if the right people are around you, your capabilities expand. My company felt like it was on steroids - these people pushed me to be better, to think bigger, to do more.

As a leader, I discovered capabilities in myself I hadn't recognized before.

Finding Your Right Place

People throw around the term "community" a lot these days. But when you have the right people around you, it truly becomes one of life's greatest hacks.

Maybe this is why so many successful people seem to be "in the right place at the right time." The right place isn't just about location - it's about who surrounds you there.

Your Challenge This Week

Take a moment to reflect on your current environment:

  • Who pushes you to think differently?

  • Where do you feel most energized after working?

  • How might you create more in-person collaboration in your work?

Sometimes, the screen that connects us can also be what limits us. Even a single day of working shoulder-to-shoulder might reveal possibilities you never saw before.

Have you ever experienced this kind of energizing collaboration? Or do you prefer the focus that comes with working alone? Hit reply and share your thoughts - I'm curious about your experience!

Cheers,

P.S. Working with my team in person revealed strengths I didn't know I had. Sometimes, the best way to discover your capabilities is to put yourself in environments that demand them.
